Did you know that you get more of what you focus on?
So if you’re spending your life focusing on the fact that you hate being dyslexic, or that Dyslexia holds you back, or lack confidence to ask for the kind of support you need, you’re gonna get a whole lot more of that!
But you can flip this narrative…
Once you start working with your dyslexia rather than against it, dyslexia suddenly becomes much easier to manage!
Here are five things to think about if you want to begin to own your Dyslexia.
- Be wary of your self talk and inner voice! How you talk about your dyslexia is how you end up feeling about it?
- Begin to focus on what you can do rather than what you can’t do. By doing this, you’ll begin to find your strengths and you’ll find that completing tasks is easier
- Don’t play a dyslexic victim! If you’re experience of Dyslexia has always been negative this is really easily done! However, if you’re constantly blaming Dyslexia is being the reason why you can’t do something, then that’s your reality! Think about what sort of support you might need or help you might need to ask for in order to be successful.
- Stop comparing yourself to others! Even comparing yourself to other dyslexic people! Everybody situation and journey is different! Learn to confidently run your own race
- When you know that Dyslexia is showing up for you, rather than think of this as a dead end try and think of how you can find a way around this or overcome it.
