Stage 1: INSPIRATION

Whilst doing something mundane like cleaning your teeth a burst of inspiration appears. Your brain lights up firing on all cylinders with ideas, which is exciting and energising and adhd heaven!

Enter Stage 2: HYPERFOCUS:

This is the best idea ever, (obviously) so cue intense concentration, as you frantically journal, entering the entire contents of your head into paper, (screw spelling) to discover 4 hours have passed, you have not been for a wee and have forgotten to eat.

Stage 3: IMPULSIVITY:

You are so excited and the ideas feel so good that you want to share them immediately. Impulsivity kicks in as you bish bash bosh your ideas to someone or on social media. Which leads so very quickly to …

Stage 4: OVERWHELM

Sick feeling in your stomach and frustration with yourself that you have not thought it through, but now you have shared your idea you will look like a dick if it doesn’t happen. bring on the overwhelm as the initial excitement fades, along with the enthusiasm and the complex layers of implementing the idea become apparent, you now don’t know where to start.

Stage 5 DISTRACTION.

Whilst you wade through the overwhelm and talk negatively to yourself about how you should have slowed down your brain and not told anyone till you had thought it through, a new idea captures your attention, and you struggle to maintain focus on the original idea because it feels too complicated and surely this new idea will be way better…

And so the cycle starts again!

No wonder ADHDers are exhausted…

Our brains are a magical cacophony of brilliant overly ambitious, noisy, shiney and brightly coloured ideas that occasionally we manage to manifest!

But when they do become reality, man they are incredible and life changing and no one can rival them!

Does this resonate with you?
