I have worked for myself for 9 years now, and I have never looked back.
Whilst being self-employed or running your own business means income isn’t guaranteed, I now know that this is the only way for me to work and that there are huge advantages as a dyslexic ADHDer. Check out why I love it so much…
- You can build a business around your strengths and individual skills! These often get lost in a formal workplace or we are so busy masking and trying to comply we don’t even know what our strengths are.
- You get to choose who you work with and also in how you outsource and build your own team of people to support you. No personality clashes, no trying to work with people who don’t get how your brain works!
- You get to manage your own diary. This means that you have a much better work life balance, as you can run your diary how it works for you. People with neurodiversity have times when it shows up more, you get to work with your brain rather than against it! You can pay yourself for a 10-hour day without the restrictions of just working 9 to 5… and then give yourself the next day off!
- Your business and work can evolve as you evolve. You can be creative with how you deliver your service, you can try things out, without the worry of being micromanaged. Yes, there will be mistakes, but they will be your mistakes and that’s how we learn and move ourselves forward.
- You never have to have that Sunday night feeling again! Because you’ll feel inspired by what you are doing, you can even manage your diary so you have Monday mornings off! You’re totally in control of your own destiny, you’ll feel free and energised being your own motivation and purpose!
