My dyslexia used to make me ashamed and embarrassed!

Not because Dyslexia is anything to be ashamed of, but because when I made a typo, when I use the wrong word, when somebody laughed at me for using the wrong word, when my grammar was publicly pointed out as being incorrect… the embarrassment and the shame swallowed me up.

I lacked so much confidence in my ability.

It kept me so small.

It made me feel like what I had to say wasn’t worthy.

It made me feel like I wasn’t as clever as my peers.

I started to make this my reality… and this became the truth for a bit.

That I wasn’t capable or clever.

Until one day when supporting my 7 year old son, and giving him a pep talk, I realised I wasn’t practising what I was preaching!

How could I expect him to be brave and achieve incredible things in spite of dyslexia if I didn’t believe it myself.

At this point I realised that despite having numerous qualifications, and successful career in education, my Dyslexia was still holding me back, and I needed to change that narrative.

My ability was never the problem, my confidence was!

So I went on a journey, to really analyse and dig deep and unpick my past stories what was real? What wasn’t?

I fully embodied and embraced all of my strengths, leading to some tricky decisions.

I walked away from a safe, salaried career and created a thriving online business founded on passion, intuition and spontaneity.

Set up a business supporting people with Dyslexia, all to show them what’s possible, and to be the best dyslexic version of myself possible!

And my message to you today is the same as it was to him 13 years!

Stop making yourself invisible, you are so clever and you deserve to take up space!
