When was the last time you did something that scar

When was the last time you did something that scared the shit out of you?

For me it was about a month ago!

On an absolute whim I decided to audition for a part in an amateur production of Come From Away.

Growing up musical theatre was always my ambition, but confidence stopped me from ever even trying to pursue it.

It’s been 29 years since I was on a stage this way and a lot has happened in that 29 years!

I became a wife, a primary school teacher and SENCO, studied a million courses, became a dyslexia specialist, all whilst raising a family! When I set up my business 10 years ago that musical theatre dream moved further and further away from reality!

My current Isle of Wight musical theatre status is mamma Jo, the chaperone, or Enid and Jemima Rees’ mum! I can’t lie, I am scared to follow in their footsteps… they are big shoes to fill!

However they have both been so supportive of me doing this and have been my biggest cheerleaders… and encouragers when I doubt myself!

True me style… it’s not a musical I can break myself in gently with… only 12 of us, we play multiple parts, speak in several accents and don’t leave the stage for 1 hour and 39 mins 🫣 there is kinda no where to hide!

And whilst my dyslexia is defo on high alert and running WILD… what with reading and remembering lines, learning harmonies, and literally learning to talk again in not one but two accents … I am loving being back in a rehearsal room!

It’s made me realise how far I have come and grown as a person but more than anything, how being vulnerable is essential to personal growth…

So my message to you… get doing something that terrifies you because it’s scary but beautiful all at the same time, it’s how we grown and learn!

Have decided over the next few weeks to do a little weekly update sharing my journey and how it’s going to hopefully inspire some of you to get back to doing what you love too!
